Following last night’s two-hour Summer Game Fest, Experience12’s Games Business Manager, John Bibby, shares his top 5 announcements.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Kicking the Summer Game Fest off with a bang was this surprise that seemingly came out of nowhere.  A 2D, side-scrolling metroidvania set in the Prince of Persia universe. From the team behind Rayman, it certainly has the credentials.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2

The reveal of the co-op gameplay of this Warhammer 40K title was a personal stand out. I can’t wait to step into the Power Armour and kick some ass for the Emperor with friends.

Mortal Kombat 1

As what I would call a ‘lapsed Fighting Game fan’ – although I will still kick anyone’s ass on SF2 Champ Edition arcade) – I have become increasingly interested this year. First with Street Fighter 6 and now Mortal Kombat 1 looking incredible, it might be time to come out of retirement for one last round.

Alan Wake 2

Having never playing Alan Wake for… reasons (I tell people it’s because it looks boring but in reality I’m too scared), I am tempted by this long-gestating sequel.  The gameplay looks interesting and, coupled with solid gunplay that is very reminiscent of the sublime Control, I may be diving into this one (in a brightly lit room)

Sonic Superstars

I still regularly visit the open world of Sonic Frontiers – mainly due to my 7 year old trying to teach me how to play it. He’s completed it 7 times, and the phrase “just be better dad” is getting really annoying. I’m loving my time in the game, but the the cyberspace levels are a true highlight due to them harking back to the old 2D sonics of my youth.

I was really excited see that the next Sonic title is taking this concept and running with it,  in a 4-player co-op, 2D side-scroller that I am sure I will lose many hours to. If my son ever lets me have a go.
