Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live is almost here, with a tonne of news about to be dropped during the Geoff Keighley fronted event. Here’s what you need to know about the start time, how to live stream and the confirmed games line-up so far.
WHEN IS IT
Gamescom 2020 is a four-day long event, taking place from Thursday 27th – Sunday 30th August.
The event will kick off with Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live which starts promptly at 6:30pm BST on Thursday 27th August.
WHERE CAN I WATCH IT
Since the event is streaming, you’ll be able to watch using the Gamescom YouTube channel.
THE GAMESCOM SHOWS
In the different gamescom shows you can expect a diverse, top-class program.
Gamescom: Opening Night Live
Opening Night Live will begin with a two-hour showcase of games, which producer and host Geoff Keighley says will range from “indie stuff” to “next-gen stuff”, and the “biggest games in the world”.
A sneak peek at season 2 of Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will also be part of the show. It comes just a few weeks after the game’s launch on Steam and on PS4.
Gamescom: Daily Show
Famed Internet comedian and Webby Award-winning host Michael Swaim wraps up the biggest gamescom highlights of the day in this late night talk show for gamers. Featuring industry luminaries, iconic gaming legends, Swaim’s unique brand of humor, and an in-depth look at the weirdest indies you’ll never find on your own. Your humble host gets hands-on with niche games, rides the adrenaline high of ridiculous in-studio challenges, and interacts with the fans at home.
Gamescom: Awesome Indies
For the first time there will be gamescom: Awesome Indies. Here you will find all the important announcements and news about the most anticipated indie titles in a surprising show.
Expect the unexpected with programming that includes: hands-on demos with IGN hosts and Influencer friends, unique indie awards, developer spotlights, and more.
Top developers are interviewed about their games to provide background information on the latest announcements.
Ubisoft will be one of those companies showcasing indie games, as the Ubisoft Entrepreneurs initiative will have several games from 13 Canadian and German studios to present at the Indie Arena Booth.
Gamescom: Best of Show
This year’s gamescom is rounded off with gamescom: Best of Show. In this new format, which forms the closing event of gamescom on 30 August, the highlights of this year’s gamescom will be summarised and the gamescom award will be presented.
