The immersive 50’s event consisted of three core areas: The Department Store, The Salon and The Gaslight Cafe

Stepping out of a vintage New York Taxi, guests were greeted by a concierge and welcomed to step back in time to 1950’s New York. A drinks reception awaited them, before being welcomed in to B.Altman’s magnificent department store.

In the department store, guests could exchange their coats for 50’s stylings such as neck scarves, jewellery, hats and other accessories for the evening. Here attention to detail was everything, with theming right down to tags on bags to fully immerse consumers in the show. With beautiful period shopping counters filled with accessories and make-up, festive window displays, selfie mirrors and themed canapés, guests were able to immerse themselves in the decadent 50s department store.

Taking inspiration from the salon visited by Midge and her mother, The Salon space was transformed from a bar to host several make-up stations and stylists, with salon hood dryers and copies of Stylist magazine for our ‘customers’ to jump into and pose for an Instagram moment.

When not being encouraged by our actresses to have themselves a treatment, guests could quench their thirst with a selection of 50s cocktails served up at the bar.

Finally, guests journeyed into the Gaslight Cafe. We brought in period furniture, festive lighting and a 3m x 2.5m LED screen. A line-up of entertainment prior to the screening by a 3-piece jazz band, and comedians Sindhu Vee, Rose Matafeo and Josie Long helped whip up the excitement of our already spoiled guests!
