WATCH | Drive to Survive
As the start of the 2023 F1 season fast approaches, Netflix step in on 24th Feb with the new season of Drive to Survive. The F1 doc has proved hugely popular and is credited with opening up the world of F1 to a whole new audience, particularly in the US. DTS has been accused of engineering some rivalries for the sake of viewer entertainment, but F1 is never far away from controversy, and a little added spice doesn’t hurt!
WATCH | Fatboy Slim: Right here, Right now
We’ve all been to a party where more people have shown up than expected, but Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique II really takes the biscuit. On Brighton beach, 13 July 2002, an estimated 250,000 revellers turned up for a DJ set that local authorities were expecting to draw 60,000 people. This wonderful documentary looks back at how authorities, attendees, and Fatboy Slim and his team dealt with a day that could have spiralled into tragedy. Genuinely quite a tense watch at times, lifted with big beat nostalgia and euphoric ravers!
EAT & DRINK – The Tavern on the Hill
Venture out to E17 and find out what so far only the locals and Stormzy know – Wildcard Brewery have created possibly the perfect pub, The Tavern on The Hill. Great beers and Caribbean food, plus a couple of screens for the sport and a darts board. If you like your IPA, then get yourself a pint of Lovely Dog! Woof.
EAT | Walthamstow Dogs
Keeping it E17 and dogs for a mo. Head down to Lloyd Park market on Saturday to get yourself a banging hot dog from Walthamstow Dogs. Their epic dogs really take care of business and a vegan option is available. Whilst I don’t believe they advertise themselves as a hangover cure, I once underwent a transformation nothing short of miraculous after devouring one, literally from the depths of despair to ready to take on the world in the space of one hot dog. Lovely stuff.
